About Us
We’re a tiny team of surfers, van-dwellers and serial quitters who refuse to believe the best waves and the best trips have to come with a big price tag or a big crowd. Between us we’ve logged years on the road, from desert points in Namibia to secret reefs in the Visayas, always chasing the same thing: perfect waves, real people, and a lifestyle that doesn’t require a trust fund.
One stormy night in a Taghazout parking lot in 2022, three of us were arguing over which blog was the least full of crap. None of them won. So we decided to build the site we actually wanted to read: no sponsored fluff, no recycled photos, just the raw info you need before you buy the ticket. Four laptops, two leaky vans and a lot of instant coffee later, Ondano was born.
The Crew Behind the Screen
Just five permanent nomads and a loose network of contributors who send postcards (and GoPro clips) from wherever the swell is hitting. No office, no 9-to-5, no suits. If we’re not answering emails, we’re probably somewhere between sets.
Good waves shouldn’t be gatekept by five-star resorts.
Good trips shouldn’t cost more than a used shortboard.
Good stories are better when they’re told by the person who got barrelled, lost their flip-flops and still made the night bus.
What We Do (and don’t do)
We do: paddle out in weird places, take the slow ferry, sleep in the dirt, count every dollar/euro/rupee, and write it all down exactly as it happened.
We don’t: accept free stays, paid links, or “press trips” that require us to say everything is perfect.
Every guide you read here was paid for with our own money and surfed with our own boards. If the lineup was crowded, we’ll tell you. If the hostel bed bugs won big, you’ll know before you book. If we found a wave that changed our lives, we’ll give you the exact GPS pin.
We’re not here to sell you a dream.
We’re here to help you live the one that’s still possible.
